Hydrosol Essences
Hydrosol Essences
For quite a few years now I have been experimenting with ‘micro dilutions’ of the hydrosols that I slowly steam distil and have been using them as you would a flower essence.
This is a new way of making flower essences and doesn’t always use just the flower of the plant - sometime the leaf or root or bark is used.
Because these new essences are still in the research phase and I would like to gather more information about them before releasing them properly I am offering them here without descriptions.
You can read a piece I wrote for my ‘journal’ about these new essences here
If you would like to try any of them because you are intuitively drawn to them, are curious, or would just like to see how they affect you, please purchase and then email me a list of the one/ones you would like -or write in the ‘extra information’ section at checkout if that is easier.
If you have knowledge of what the plants are used for in herbal medicine or as a ‘traditionally’ made flower essence this might help with your choice.
Once you have used them and have any insights into what they have shifted in you or what aspects they helped with I would be delighted to add this to the body of information that is being collected ….so do email me.
The hydrosol essences I have available at the moment are:
Lavender (flowers), Rosemary (leaf), Bay/Laurus nobilis (leaf), Rose (petals), Nettle (leaf ), Nettle (root), Ground Ivy/Glechoma hederacea (leaves and flowers), Mugwort(flowering tops), Willowherb/Epilobium hirsutum (flowering tops), Magnolia stellata(bark), Lemon Balm/Melissa officianalis (leaves), Giant Redwood/Sequoiadendron giganteum (leaves and cones), Oregano (leaves and flowers), Catmint/Nepeta faassenii (flowering tops), Holy Basil/Tulsi (flowering tops), Rose Geranium/Pelargonium graveolens (leaves and flowers), Hedge Woundwort/ Stachys sylvatica(flowering tops), Angelica/Angelica archangelica (root, stems and leaves), Frankincense (resin), Sweet Cecily/Myrrhis odorata ( stems, leave, flowers, green seed heads), Fig /Ficus carica (leaves)

From my intuitive feeling, what I have observed, and feedback from others these essences seem to work in a much more direct ‘masculine’ way. Flower essences made using the ‘sun method’ - which is how most of our essences are made – seem to gently but firmly persuade you to change your thoughts and behaviours bringing awareness to how to do things in a healthier way. These hydrosol essences however seem to just go straight in and do what’s needed quickly and firmly.
When choosing blends for people in my clinic using a pendulum one of these hydrosol essences nearly always wants to be included with 5 or 6 ‘sun method’ essences. With people who have physical complaints sometimes two or three hydrosol essences want to be included…. I am offering these insights in case it helps you in your decision as to whether to choose one of these trial essences for what you need help with now.
As flower essence practitioners and producers in the UK we are not able, nor would I want, to suggest that flower essences help with physical symptoms. However we are more and more aware as a culture that how we are emotionally effects our physical well-being and that the boundary between these two aspects is a very fine line.
To read more about my process making these essences and further insights you might want to read this article I wrote for Sentire essence magazine some time ago.
